He makes my heart go bum-bum-bum... *thats beating by the way* ------Blink-182 - The Early Days The boys of Blink-182 are made up of San Diego natives Tom DeLonge (guitar/vocals), Mark Hoppus (bass/vocals) and Travis Barker (drums.) Blink-182's original line-up had Scott Raynor on drums. The band started out as a mariachi band playing at weddings and birthdays and called themselves El Cuatro and the Cajones. That was short lived. Blink-182 lost the ponchos, plugged in their amps and have been rockin' ever since. Blink-182 Grows Up Blink-182 released their first full album, Cheshire Cat in 1995 on Grilled Cheese Music. In '96 MCA Records snagged Blink-182 and they released their second album Dude Ranch in '97. By the end of 1998 Blink-182 had been tagged as one of the most popular pop-punk bands of the year. Dude Ranch was a big success, which had a lot to do with the popular single Dammit (Growing Up.) Teens caught the Blink bug when Enema Of The State hit record shelves in 1999 and their popularity exploded. It was a sad day for girls everywhere when, in May 2001, Blink-182 hottie Tom DeLonge got hitched to his long-time sweetheart Jennifer Jenkins. The following month the band released Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. The first single The Rock Show is a big hit and the video. Blink-182's self-titled album is due out in November of 2003. Blink-182 - Did U Know? Tom DeLonge was homecoming king in his senior year of high school. Travis Barker owns a clothing store called Famous Stars & Straps. Travis Barker collects Cadillacs, he even has a few Cadillac tattoos. Blink-182 Says... I've never gotten into bands who only seem to have a political agenda. He liked skateboarding and wanted to become a professional skater. But when he started high school, his mother, Gloria, died of cancer. Travis was only 15 when this happend. She told him to keep playing music, and to follow his dreams. Travis finished school and started on his music career, landing him a rather good spot, with the Aquabats. After while, Scott left blink 182, and Travis was asked to do a show for blink. he learnt the set list in 45 mins and blink 182 had found a new drummer. Travis has been through one marrage, divorcing Mellisa after only a year. Reasons for this are unknown. For fun he likes to teach drum lessons to kids, make cars, collect cadilacs and he runs his own company, Famous Stars And Straps. And now, hes got what he wants, money, a kid, one fucking mega musical talent, a playboy girlfriend and the main thing he loves to do, make good music. ------Tats-------- The race flag: "The race flag on my neck is for the year of my favorite Cadillac. I got that three ago. I also have Japanese flowers on the back of my neck. I don't even know what they look like, because I can't see back there. But I have a heat that says 'Mom' with the flowers." -------Cadillac Emblem: "I got a Cadillac emblem when I was 21, because I collect Cadillacs. I don't drive any other cars." ------- Can I Say: " I have a Dag Nasty symbol. Thats a band I grew up listening to. And I have 'Can I Say, ' because its the name their first album. --------Scared heart, a microphone, dice, and Jesus: "I have a scared heart from when I was 19, because I was brought up Catholic. I also have a microphone, dice, and Jesus. I figured if I tattooed Jesus on me, good things would happen, or maybe he'd have my back or something." ------- The Boom Box: "The boom box on my stomach is because I grew up loving to break-dance, and I collected ghetto blasters. I had like 20 of them. Everyone else would go buy candy and I would buy boom boxes and carry them around and break-dance on the street corner on a piece of cardboard. So i get my favorite boom box that lasted the longest, up until the time I was 19 or 20, tattooed on me when I was 21." -------- Bones: "My first tattoo was the word "Bones" on my leg. I got it when I was 17, because it was my nickname when I was a kid." --------- Familia, Bird, Flowers, and Self Made: " I got 'familia' tattooed on my arm when i was 20, which is obviously fir my family. I have a bird that I just got for the hell of it. It was a good-looking bird. Then I was in Denver and I was bored and wanted to get tattooed to finish my arm up. So I just went into the place and said 'Give me that.' And then, this guy Bugs me that [flower on his arm]. He specialized in tulips. I'm not a flower guy, but it's an honor to get a tattoo from him, because he won't even tattoo you if he doesn't like you. And I have 'self-made' on my knuckles from 2000, because I've worked for everything I have. I don't really have anyone to thank for my hand through it all, and making me what I am." ---------- Trucker ladies, spark plugs, and hope: "I have trucker ladies on my chest from when I was 22. I kind of like 'white-trash' art, just the whole style. I have spark plugs 'cause I'm into cars--there's like a holy one and an evil one. I have the word ;hope' written on my back. I got it when I was 19, because of the Descendent's' song, but also as a positive thing after my mom passed away." --------- His lucky right arm: "My right arm is like my good luck arm. It has everything-- a deck of cards, drumsticks, a martini glass, a dollar sign, my lucky number seven, my initials, and a rabbit's foot. I have a devil that was off of Black Label skateboards. I was into skateboarding when I was 22, so I got it. It healed really badly, but I refused to get it touched up. I don't want to touch up any of my stuff.
